😐 GPT can read your facial expressions now, which is worrying

There’s a GPT-powered facial expression recognition AI now, and while it’s being used in a messaging app for now, the potential is pretty scary.

There’s an app called Holler, available through Apple Test Flight, which is an experimental AI-powered messaging app. However, one of the beta features implemented into the game reads your facial expressions and converts them into emojis. While on the surface this isn’t particularly new, especially considering Apple’s emoji technology, it’s the linking to the GPT-4 model which powers ChatGPT which is the worry.

👊 China and US battle for AI dominance

Chinese tech giants ByteDance (TikTok), Tencent, Baidu, and Alibaba simply can't get enough of Nvidia's High-Performance Computing (HPC) products. This news comes from Chinese media, which reports that TikTok creator, ByteDance, alone, has already caught up (in pure dollar terms) to what the entire Chinese market ordered from Nvidia in 2022.

🧻 ChatGPT plugins access is FINALLY rolling out to a wider audience

OpenAI has begun to roll out the much-awaited Plugins feature to ChatGPT Plus subscribers, which allows them to interact with third-party APIs through the GPT-4 model. Not all subscribers have instant access, as there is a selection process for entry into this new feature. The author, who had expressed skepticism about the value of the ChatGPT Plus subscription, has gained access to Plugins but not the browsing feature, and humorously mentions using Bing Chat as an alternative for browsing.
