The Recording Academy is implementing multiple modifications to the Grammy Awards criteria. One key change includes a mandate that only 'human creators' can attain the music industry's premier recognition, a rule specifically targeting the incorporation of artificial intelligence in mainstream music.

Under the new 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Protocols' disclosed on Friday, it was stated that 'A work devoid of human authorship is ineligible across all categories.'

This rule crystallized after the semiannual board of trustees meeting at the academy last month. It was agreed that works incorporating AI elements can be considered eligible, provided there is 'meaningful' contribution from a human creator towards the music and/or lyrics.
